Vinicius Junior: ‘My Goal is to Make History with Madrid’

‘I want to continue creating history at Madrid’ – Vinicius Junior

Luka Modric and Vinicius Junior have expressed their happiness at Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League victory.

After aiding Real Madrid win the European Championship for the 14th time, Vinicius Junior feels he has earned the first of many UEFA Champions League crowns. In Saturday’s final victory over Liverpool in Paris, the Brazilian was the only goal scorer. After Luka Modric’s pass split Liverpool open and allowed Federico Valverde to hammer in a cross in the 59th minute, the Brazilian was left with a simple tap-in.

After winning the LaLiga championship with four games remaining in April, Madrid needed one more victory to complete a hat ᴛʀɪᴄᴋ. Vinicius, however, was unique in that this was his first Champions League victory, and as he spoke to Movistar after the match, he was having a hard time accepting his accomplishment.

It was “inexplicable,” he claimed. “What I did today is completely unknown to me. It’s now time to rejoice and have a great time. There is nothing better than winning wearing this jersey, and we have cherished the journey to get here.

“For me, it was a dream. The best thing a player can have is a goal in the championship. It is the initial. I intend to continue winning and writing history here for a very long time.

Modric enjoys being ranked fifth.

Vinicius was a rookie on this stage, but Modric, 36, was not. Modric was at his decisive best as the game went on, surviving the opening waves of Reds intensity to ultimately neutralize their pressuring, much like in the 2018 final against Liverpool in Kyiv.

Modric played a key role in the team’s run through the knockout rounds to reach the Champions League final, and with an extension to his contract in the works, he also plans to stay and keep winning.

“We’re still letting what we’ve done sink in,” he said to Movistar. “This is without a doubt the finest football club ever. There is nothing like Real Madrid, as we have to sᴀʏ it again and time again.

Character, never giving up, and complete faith. Today, we did that. Imagineing five Champions Leagues was unthinkable. However, I currently have five, and I’m hoping for more.
